The necessity of communities becoming self-sustainable and self-dependent has increased particularly after the Chhattisgarh province of erstwhile Madhya Pradesh became an independent state. The new state is rich in culture, resources, traditions, art and geographical morphology. However there was a shortage of skilled and agile human resources who can put to use the available resources in right direction. Furthermore people of the state are more inclined with the culture that was hampering the moderation. It was in these circumstances Samarth Samarpan Seva Samiti emerged as an association of like-minded people basically aimed at the educational, health and environmental progress of the community. These issues are significant for the perennial problems of the state such as poverty, Education, improper health and improper use of the natural resources.

The organization stated its work in the area of sanitation, women and child health, tribal development and capacity building of village stake holders. It expanded its activities to newer areas that include labor welfare, livelihood, empowerment, health, de-addiction etc. Initially the group was mostly concentrating on the understanding of the dynamics of communities and ascertaining the nodal points of interventions which will cause a progressive change. In this direction, the organization made many need assessments, estimated the various problems persisting and relevant strategies for tackling the problems as well . It experimented small interventions to ascertain the effectiveness of the designed strategies for various interventions. Then it felt to do some innovative programs and implement some programs in cooperation with the government at the helm. This eventually grown and established an office for itself with full paraphernalia. Presently the organization is identified as an independent body with some recurring and non recurring programs that are being implemented in selected areas. It has a fixed staff and the governing body members have taken responsibilities of the programs and they are guiding. After a period of three long years it could bag some of the governmental programs that are coinciding with the objectives of the organization.
